YANGON, Myanmar — June 18, 2026

In a significant effort to foster greater unity and cooperation among Zomi organizations in Yangon, Zomi Innkuan Yangon (ZIY) successfully organized a large-scale leadership fellowship and consultation gathering on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at My Garden Restaurant, People’s Park, Yangon.

The event brought together approximately 134 leaders and representatives from various Zomi organizations, religious institutions, social associations, youth groups, and community-based organizations operating in Yangon. The gathering served as a platform for fellowship, dialogue, and strategic discussions aimed at strengthening collaboration among Zomi communities living in Myanmar’s largest city.

A Gathering Centered on Unity and Shared Purpose

The fellowship was organized under the leadership of Zomi Innkuan Yangon (ZIY), a newly established community organization committed to promoting cooperation and collective development among Zomi people in Yangon.

According to the organizing committee, the organization is guided by the motto:

“Luangkhawm! Semkhawm! Zuunkhawm!”
(Gather Together! Think Together! Work Together!)

During the program, ZIY leaders formally presented the organization’s vision and mission, emphasizing the need for stronger cooperation among Zomi organizations while creating a common platform for dialogue and mutual support.

“To build a strong and united Zomi community through collective participation and cooperation.”

Mission

The organization outlined three primary objectives:

  1. To strengthen cooperation among Zomi organizations and community groups in Yangon.
  2. To build stronger relationships between Zomi organizations in Yangon, throughout Myanmar, and among the wider Zomi community.
  3. To encourage collective efforts that will benefit future generations of Zomi people.

Distinguished Leaders Share Perspectives

The program featured presentations and remarks from respected Zomi leaders, church leaders, educators, and community representatives.

Speakers highlighted the importance of community cooperation, long-term planning, leadership development, and strengthening the bonds that unite Zomi organizations despite their diverse backgrounds and functions.

Participants also engaged in an open discussion session, allowing representatives from various organizations to offer recommendations, express concerns, and share ideas for future collaboration.

Strong Support for ZIY’s Vision

According to the ZIY Organizing Committee, leaders representing the various organizations expressed strong support for the vision and objectives presented during the meeting.

Participants reportedly encouraged ZIY to continue serving as a bridge among organizations and pledged their willingness to contribute toward future initiatives that promote unity, cultural preservation, social development, and community advancement.

The gathering was characterized by a spirit of mutual respect, fellowship, and optimism, reflecting a shared desire among attendees to work together for the common good of the Zomi people.

Looking Toward the Future

Observers noted that the strong turnout and active participation from more than one hundred leaders demonstrated growing momentum for greater cooperation among Zomi organizations in Yangon.

As the program concluded, participants expressed hope that the fellowship would become a foundation for stronger partnerships, improved communication, and more coordinated efforts among Zomi organizations in the years ahead.

ZIY leaders reaffirmed their commitment to creating platforms where organizations can meet, exchange ideas, and work together toward the welfare and advancement of the Zomi community.

The event concluded with thanksgiving, fellowship, and a renewed commitment to the principles embodied in the organization’s motto:

“Luangkhawm, Semkhawm, Zuunkhawm”
