Zomi Innkuan Yangon Holds Brotherhood Fellowship with YTKKK, SCA and UZO, Highlighting Shared Khuado Tradition accordingly to their Facebook page.
Zomi Innkuan Yangon (ZIY) hosted a brotherhood fellowship dinner in Yangon on Friday, September 25, bringing together representatives of four historically connected community organizations for an afternoon of fellowship, speeches, prayer, cultural reflection, and mutual encouragement.
Held under the theme “Unau Laizom Teng Itna Ankuang Umkhopna” — a fellowship meal of love among brothers and sisters — the gathering brought together:
- Zomi Innkuan Yangon (ZIY)
- Yangon Thadou-Kuki Khankho Kiloikhomna (YTKKK)
- Siyin Chin Association (SCA)
- United Zo Organization (UZO)
The event took place from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at My Garden Restaurant, People’s Park, Ahlone Road, Dagon Township, Yangon.
About Zomi Innkuan Yangon
Zomi Innkuan Yangon (ZIY) is a Zomi community organization based in Yangon that seeks to strengthen fellowship, preserve Zomi identity and cultural heritage, and promote cooperation among Zomi families and related communities living in the city.
The September 25 gathering reflected that community-centered mission by creating a space for organizations with long-standing historical and cultural relationships to meet, share a meal, and reaffirm their commitment to mutual support.
A Fellowship Rooted in Brotherhood and Shared Tradition
The gathering carried particular cultural significance because the participating communities share historical ties and cultural traditions, including the Khuado Festival, which has long been celebrated among related Zomi communities.
Within Zomi cultural and linguistic discussions, these communities are also sometimes associated with what is described as the “G-group”, referring to related language communities in which the sound or letter “R” is traditionally absent from the alphabet or common speech system.
The fellowship therefore represented more than a social dinner. It served as an expression of kinship, cultural continuity, and the desire to strengthen relationships among closely connected communities.
Program and Leadership Participation
The official program was hosted by Stephen Mang, General Secretary of ZIY, and Sm. Cing Theih Kim, Joint Secretary of ZIY, while members of the ZIY Organizing Committee served as ushers.
The program opened with a welcoming segment led by Rev. Dr. Neh Kho Lal, Chairman of YTKKK.
A welcome message was then delivered by Rev. Dr. Jacob Kham Khan Mung, Chairman of ZIY.
Pa Thomas Kam Khan Khup, Treasurer of ZIY, led the introductory portion of the program, followed by a musical presentation from Sianpi of ZOMUS.
A presentation on the vision and mission of ZIY was delivered by Rev. Prof. Suan Khan Lian, Vice Chairman of ZIY.
Representatives from the three guest organizations then delivered messages on behalf of:
- United Zo Organization (UZO)
- Siyin Chin Association (SCA)
- Yangon Thadou-Kuki Khankho Kiloikhomna (YTKKK)
Additional remarks were also delivered by Bomu Thang Cin Thawng, Advisor to ZIY, together with contributions from participants.
A Shared Message of Unity
Across the speeches, a common theme emerged: historically connected communities should continue to love one another, gather together, work together and stand together.
Speakers emphasized that brotherhood should not be demonstrated only during festivals and celebrations, but also in times of difficulty, sorrow and need.
Participants were encouraged to remain present for one another and to strengthen relationships through practical cooperation, mutual respect and continuing fellowship.
The central message of the event can be summarized simply:
“Love together, gather together, work together, and stand together.”
Prayer, Thanksgiving and Closing
The later part of the program included a prayer led by Rev. Dr. Gin Khen Mang, Advisor to ZIY.
A thanksgiving message was delivered by Rev. Dr. Mang Tungg Thang, Vice Chairman of ZIY.
Before the meal, Rev. Kam Khen Dal, Senior Pastor of Zo Baptist Church, Pale, offered a prayer.
The program concluded with a benediction by Rev. Dr. Vum Khat Pau, Church Pastor of YSBC.
The participation of pastors, community leaders, organizational representatives, and members reflected the fellowship’s combination of cultural identity, community relationships and spiritual fellowship.
Preserving Brotherhood for Future Generations
The gathering also carried significance for younger generations.
By maintaining fellowship among historically connected communities and continuing shared traditions such as Khuado, participants reinforced the importance of remembering inherited relationships while building stronger cooperation for the future.
The event reflected the idea that cultural identity is preserved not only through language, traditional dress and festivals, but also through relationships — by meeting together, sharing meals, listening to one another and supporting one another in both joyful and difficult times.
For Zomi Innkuan Yangon and the participating organizations, the September 25 fellowship was therefore both a community event and a reaffirmation of shared history, kinship and future cooperation.
