CONDEMNATION:
It is with deep anguish that we condemn the unprecedented attack of our people by the Chin National Army/Chin National Front (CNA/CNF) and its cohorts, who have been responsible for the wanton terror and humanitarian crisis that has plagued Zogam.
The CNA/CNF had been intruding into the Zomi territory, an exclusive operational domain of the ZRA Eastern Command and was on its expansionist exercise, annexing territories outside of their domain creating havoc with no remorse.
However, we cannot comprehend how an armed struggle which was initially against the Military Junta – a struggle in which the Zomis along with other ethnicities and their armed groups participated wholeheartedly – has today morphed into an internal conflict for control and subjugation of the Zomi community and their lands.
Currently, the Zomi community in Myanmar are being subjected to a policy of expansion and imposition – a policy of land grabbing and territorial usurpation, a policy to control and dominate the entirety of Chin State, and an overall policy of cultural and social imposition by groups with whom we share cultural and social affinity.
Today, we question the CNA/CNF the validity of their anti-junta activities – whether the SAC forces in Hakha have been attacked so far by them. If not, then we seek to question why the CNA/CNF came into Zomi territories when they have been harbouring the junta in their own backyard. Hence, we are only convinced that the ongoing atrocities committed by the CNA/CNF in Zogam are a mere reflection and manifestation of their expansionist policies, fuelled with the ambition to usurp Zomi lands and territories – which included the lucrative trade route from Zokhawthar to Kalay.
Therefore, we condemn the CNA/CNF’s ongoing policy of expansion and imposition which has caused immeasurable hardships to our people, including death, homelessness and incomprehensible trauma.
In this solemn struggle, this is our exhortation to our Zomi community: That, we renew our vow to defend our ancestral lands and resist all attempts of expansion and imposition, we pray for peace and tranquillity to return to our homeland, While we exhort our people to be resolute, bold and steadfast in defending what is rightfully ours – ZOGAM.
