The selection of Mr. and Miss Zomi USA 2026 was about far more than physical appearance, cultural attire, or stage presence. It also recognized confidence, intellectual maturity, emotional strength, spiritual grounding, cultural pride, and a sincere willingness to serve the Zomi people.
Throughout the competition, Tg. Thang Sawm Lian of Zomi Innkuan DC Area and Lia Rosy Lun Sian Zuun of Zomi Innkuan Battle Creek demonstrated the qualities expected of representatives entrusted with these distinguished titles. They carried themselves with confidence and dignity while displaying humility, composure, and genuine kindness onstage.
Their answers to the final question offered the audience a deeper view of their character. Both understood that the true meaning of a title lies not in the crown itself, but in the responsibility and opportunity it provides to serve others.
Tg. Thang Sawm Lian: Zomi Identity Beyond a Title
When asked whether he would continue supporting Zomi organizations even if he did not win first place, Tg. Thang Sawm Lian responded:
“Even if I do not win first place tonight, I will always continue supporting Zomi organizations. Whether or not I receive this title does not change who I am as a Zomi—by blood and identity.
“I wholeheartedly embrace ZIUSA’s guiding principles: Unity—building harmony among our people; Development—advancing our community; and Preservation—protecting our culture and traditions. Therefore, I will continue supporting these principles throughout my life.”
His answer was thoughtful, logically grounded, and firmly rooted in Zomi identity. He made clear that community responsibility does not begin with receiving a title and does not end when a competition is over.
By connecting his personal commitment to ZIUSA’s guiding principles of Unity, Development, and Preservation, he demonstrated an understanding of the broader purpose of community leadership. His response reflected cultural conviction, maturity, and a long-term dedication to the welfare and advancement of the Zomi people.
His words revealed that he did not view the competition merely as an opportunity to receive recognition. Instead, he understood the title as one possible platform through which he could express a commitment that already existed within him.
Lia Rosy Lun Sian Zuun: Service That Comes From the Heart
When asked whether she would continue supporting the Zomi community if she did not win the Miss Zomi USA 2026 title, Lia Rosy Lun Sian Zuun responded:
“Thank you both for the question. I will absolutely continue supporting our people—the Zomi people. Winning this title would give me a platform, but my commitment to serving my people and community comes from my heart, not from a title. Thank you—lungdam.”
Her answer was concise, sincere, and memorable. With warmth, clarity, confidence, and humility, she drew an important distinction between receiving a public platform and possessing a genuine heart for service.
A title may increase a person’s visibility and create new opportunities, but meaningful community service does not depend upon recognition, position, or a crown. It begins with love for one’s people and a sincere willingness to contribute.

Tg. Thang Sawm Lian emphasized that his Zomi blood and identity remain unchanged regardless of the competition’s outcome. Lia Rosy Lun Sian Zuun emphasized that her commitment to the community comes from within and does not depend upon wearing a crown.

Tg.
