A 48-year-old Indian tourist disappeared into a 26-feet-deep sinkhole while walking on a pavement at Jalan Masjid India in Kuala Lumpur last Friday. The pavement suddenly caved in, causing her to fall. A search-and-rescue operation began immediately, with rescuers using high-pressure water jets to cut through the rubble along two manholes. Despite efforts, including flushing operations at a different manhole and searching the Pantai Dalam treatment plant, the woman has not yet been found.

A task force comprising the Department of Minerals and Geosciences, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, the Royal Malaysia Police, and the Public Works Department has been formed to locate her. A video of the incident shows the woman walking on the pavement before it collapses, leaving onlookers in shock.

Zomi Press suggests anyone walking in the city of Kuala Lumpur should exercise extreme caution, especially around pavements and areas with potential structural weaknesses. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid walking near manholes or regions that appear unstable. Stay safe and report any suspicious or dangerous conditions to the authorities immediately.
