Violent Assault on Security Guards by Intoxicated Soldiers Raises Human Rights Concerns
On December 12, 2024, at approximately 7:00 PM, a group of roughly 20 soldiers from CDF-Hualngoram, including some intoxicated individuals, arrived unexpectedly at the checkpoint of the Zomi Federal Union/PDF-Zoland Battalion (5). Without any prior notice, the soldiers violently assaulted three security guards stationed at the checkpoint.
According to an official from PDF Zoland, “In the early evening, CDF-Hualngoram troops arrived at the checkpoint at PDF Zoland Battalion (5) without prior notice. They attacked three security guards, resulting in two injuries to the left eye and one injury to the left side of the chest.”
The Zomi Federal Union expressed strong condemnation of the assault, emphasizing the necessity for revolutionary organizations to uphold human rights and act with respect and caution. “Revolutionary organizations need to be respectful and cautious,” a ZFU official stated.
The injured soldiers are currently receiving the necessary medical treatment. The incident highlights the critical need for adherence to human rights standards and accountability within military operations.
