Download: CNF/A Proxy PDA Camp Cleared– A Legitimate and Long-Overdue Action to Restore Peace and Stability in Zomi Land
Zogam News | March 23, 2026
On the morning of March 22, the Zomi Revolutionary Army – Eastern Command (ZRA-EC) successfully cleared a CNF/A-backed PDA proxy camp stationed at Geel Zang village, located between Tedim and Tonzang townships. The camp had long been notorious for repeatedly inflicting extortion, forced recruitment, inter-village conflicts, and various forms of oppression on surrounding Zomi communities.
During the clearing operation, ZRA-EC forces seized 15 firearms, one drone, communication devices, and a large quantity of ammunition. While some PDA personnel remain unaccounted for, no confirmed casualty figures have been received at this time.
When contacted regarding the operation, a ZRA-EC responsible officer stated the following:
“We had absolutely no desire to engage in any form of internal conflict like this. However, complaints from the public had become overwhelming. We were concerned that if we did not act, the people’s trust and confidence in our organization would be completely lost. The other side had gone far beyond acceptable limits in oppressing the people. They set up checkpoints and extorted money from all travelers, verbally abused them, and in some cases physically assaulted them. They deliberately instigated conflicts between villages. They carried out unlawful arrests and demanded money, forcibly looted property, blocked access to farmland, forcibly conscripted young men into their ranks, and committed many other abuses. Because the number of public complaints had increased dramatically, we made every possible effort to negotiate and persuade them. However, they not only refused to listen but their behavior became even worse. In the end, military action became unavoidable and the only remaining option. There was simply no other way.”
The Zomi political organizations fully endorse the action taken by ZRA-EC. This was not an act of aggression, but a legitimate and necessary measure to protect the civilian population. For many years, certain proxy forces operating under the CNF/A name have treated Zomi civilians not as citizens deserving protection and dignity, but merely as sources of revenue. Their pattern of oppression had created widespread fear and instability across Zomi land, reaching a point that could no longer be tolerated.
This operation should have been carried out years ago. The unchecked abuses had severely disrupted peace and daily life throughout Zogam. By acting decisively, the Zomi army has fulfilled its primary responsibility as the sole defense force of the Zomi people—restoring order, dignity, and stability in our homeland.
A Senior Zomi Political Observer and a veteran, speaking on condition of anonymity, told ZomiPress: “The ZRA-EC operation at Geelzang was both legitimate and long overdue. When armed groups—regardless of what they call themselves—begin systematically extorting, forcibly recruiting, blocking farmland, and sowing division among villages, they forfeit any claim to legitimacy. This was not internal conflict; it was a necessary corrective action to restore stability in Zomi land. Genuine Zomi nationalism demands that the welfare and security of our people come first. This move sends a strong and clear message: the era of unchecked exploitation by proxy forces in Zogam must end. Only through such firm and resolute steps can true peace and self-determination be achieved.”
The Zomi people have suffered enough from internal division and parasitic armed activities. Starting today, the Zomi army will continue to protect the Zomi people and their interests from both internal and external aggression. As the situation demands and when necessary, appropriate measures will be taken to ensure the full security, stability, and dignity of the Zomi nation.
The action by ZRA-EC marks a bold and welcome step toward genuine peace, security, and unity in Zogam. The Zomi people stand firmly with any force that truly prioritizes the safety and future of Zogam.
